Last Tuesday, we had a visitor from the Eli Whitney Museum come to our school to create Electric City Houses. Before we went to Eli Witney we had to do mini science experiments to now what electricity is. First you need the following materials, 2 light bulbs, 2 wires, 4 screw eyes, 2 batteries, 2 paperclips (switch) and 2 tacks and 2 pieces of foil. On thing we learned about were conductors and insulators. A conductor allows electricity to flow through and a conductor keeps water out and keeps you safe from electricity. The most important thing we learned was what a circuit is. A circuit is made to be in a loop (circle) and is connected. All the wires need to be in a circuit in order for the lightbulb to light. We enjoyed this very much! It was a great way to apply what we have been learning about electricity in class. Before we went to Eli Witney we had to do mini science experiments to now what electricity is.
