Our fourth grage class recently visited the Old State House and State Capitol to conclude our government unit. Did you know that the Old State House was built in 1796? That makes it over 200 years old. Amazingly, at the Capitol we got to personally meet Senator Meyer, Senator Fasano and Representatives Candelora and Kokoruda. These are just a few highlights form our trip. Make sure you check out our pictures to learn more. Today the students were given their first long term project in social studies. The project requires students to create their own countries and maps. It allows the students the opportunity to showcase the knowledge they have gained from our map unit and add in their own creative elements. It is due on February 1, 2013. Please click here to see a description of the project. You can also click here to get the rubric for scoring. I can't wait to see the finished projects!
